Taxonomy
Nyctinomus brasiliensis was named by Geoffroy (1824). It is extant.

It was recombined as Tadarida brasiliensis by Dalquest and Roth (1970), Martin (1972), Martin (1972), Kurten and Anderson (1980) and Rabon et al. (2000).
