Palaeosyops manteoceras
Taxonomy
Palaeosyops manteoceras was named by Matthew (1899) [named accidentally based on "Palaeosyops manteoceras" material of Matthew 1899; argued incorrectly by Osborn 1929 to be the genotype, which is M. vallidens]. It is the type species of Manteoceras.
It was recombined as Manteoceras manteoceras by Hay (1902) and Hay (1902); it was considered a nomen nudum by Osborn (1929) and Mader (1989); it was synonymized subjectively with Telmatherium validus by Mader (2008) and Mihlbachler (2008).
