Taxonomy
Mookomys bodei was named by Wilson (1949). Its type locality is South Mountain (CIT 220), which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in the Sespe Formation of California.

It was recombined as Tenudomys bodei by Korth (1993), Korth (1994) and Korth (1997).
