Bordenia was named by Greene (1901) [Sepkoski's age data: C Ms]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cyathopsidae by Hill (1956); to Amplexidae by Hill (1981) and Chen et al. (1997); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
