Brachycrus rusticus

Taxonomy
Merycochoerus rusticus was named by Leidy (1870). Its type specimen is NM 145, a partial skull (Anterior portion of skull with I1(br.)-M2 (P4 br.) and partial mandible with i1-i2 alv. and i3(rt.)-m3(br.) (p1 br.)), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Brachycrus.

It was recombined as Merychyus rusticus by Scott (1890); it was recombined as Ticholeptus rusticus by Loomis (1920) and Thorpe (1937); it was recombined as Brachycrus rusticus by Palmer (1904), Schultz and Falkenbach (1940), Schultz and Falkenbach (1941), Kelly and Lander (1988), Munthe (1988), Lander (1998) and Stevens and Stevens (2007).
