Tillotherium fodiens was named by Marsh (1875). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Millersville, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Tillodon fodiens by Gazin (1953), Rose (1972), Gazin (1976) and Lucas and Schoch (1998).
