Taxonomy
Tillotherium hyracoides was named by Marsh (1873) [genotype]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Granger Station, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Trogosus hyracoides by Gazin (1953), Rose (1972) and Gazin (1976); it was synonymized subjectively with Trogosus castoridens by Lucas and Schoch (1998).
