Taxonomy
Titanoides majus was named by Simons (1960). Its type specimen is PU 16447, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is SC-264, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.

It was corrected as Titanoides major by Gingerich (1996).
