Taxonomy
Titanops curtus was named by Marsh (1887) [genotype]. It is the type species of Titanops.

It was recombined as Brontotherium curtum by Osborn (1929); it was recombined as Megacerops curtus by Mader (1989), Mader and Alexander (1995) and Mader (1998).
