Taxonomy
Oxyaena lichna was named by Rose (1981). Its type locality is SC-74, which is in a Clarkforkian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.

It was recombined as Tytthaena lichna by Gunnell and Gingerich (1991) and Gunnell (1998).
