Taxonomy
Eobasileus cornutus was named by Cope (1872) [as "Lefalophodon discornatus"]. It is the type species of Eobasileus.

It was recombined as Loxolophodon cornutus by Cope (1872), Cope (1873) and Osborn (1881).
