Carinthiaphyllum was named by Heritsch (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u P Asse Sepkoski's reference number: 1240]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Geyerophyllidae by Hill (1981), Rodriguez and Bamber (2012) and Kossovaya et al. (2020).
