Washakius insignis

Taxonomy
Washakius insignis was named by Leidy (1873) [type is from an unknown locality in the Bridger Formation and was "given to Dr. Carter by a Shoshone Indian and then sent on to Leidy" (Gazin 1958)]. Its type specimen is ANSP 10332, a mandible (portion of right ramus of mandible with M3 and M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Washakius.

It was recombined as Anaptomorphus insignis by Hay (1902).
