Taxonomy
Wyolestes dioctes was named by Gingerich (1982). Its type specimen is USNM 22456, a mandible (left and right mandibular rami), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Barge, which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial mudstone in the Wasatch Formation of Wyoming.
