Shamosaurus scutatus

Taxonomy
Shamosaurus scutatus was named by Tumanova (1983). Its type specimen is PIN 3779/2, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chamrin-Us [SMPE] (PIN coll. 3779), which is in an Aptian/Albian lacustrine - large claystone/sandstone in the Dzunbain Formation of Mongolia. It is the type species of Shamosaurus. It was considered monophyletic by Vickaryous et al. (2004).
