Montanoceratops cerorhynchus
Taxonomy
Leptoceratops cerorhynchus was named by Brown and Schlaikjer (1942). Its type specimen is AMNH 5464, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 3 miles west of Buffalo Lake, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the St. Mary River Formation of Montana.
It was recombined as Montanoceratops cerorhynchus by Sternberg (1951), Kuhn (1964), Russell (1964), Maryanska and Osmólska (1975), Dodson and Currie (1990), Chinnery and Weishampel (1996), Vickaryous and Ryan (1997), Chinnery and Weishampel (1998), Makovicky (2001), Chinnery (2004), You and Dodson (2004), Makovicky (2010), Ryan et al. (2012) and Son et al. (2022).
It was recombined as Montanoceratops cerorhynchus by Sternberg (1951), Kuhn (1964), Russell (1964), Maryanska and Osmólska (1975), Dodson and Currie (1990), Chinnery and Weishampel (1996), Vickaryous and Ryan (1997), Chinnery and Weishampel (1998), Makovicky (2001), Chinnery (2004), You and Dodson (2004), Makovicky (2010), Ryan et al.
