Platanocarpus brookensis

Platanocarpus brookensis was named by Crane et al. (1993) [Figs. 8-11, 23 of Crane et al. (1993). Type specimen stored at the Department of Geology, FMNH. Association evidence, similarities in cuticular structure, and the occurrence of Aquia-type pollen on carpels of Platanocarpus brookensis, suggest that these reproductive structures and the co-ocurring Sapindopsis leaves were produced by the same plant species, the ]. Its type specimen is PP42988. Its type locality is Bank near Brooke, which is in an Albian/Albian crevasse splay siltstone in the Patapsco Formation of Virginia.
