Testudo concinna was named by Le Conte (1830). It is extant. It is the type species of Pseudemys.
It was recombined as Pseudemys concinna by Gray (1855), Cope (1875), Hay (1930), Holman (1985), Seidel and Smith (1986), Holman et al. (1990) and van Dijk et al. (2014).
