Copia was named by Vasilyuk and Kozyreva (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u C Serp-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Dibunophyllinae by Hill (1981); to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Heritschioidinae by Fedorowski et al. (2013).
