Taxonomy
Volgosuchus cornutus was named by Efremov (1940). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ples River near Kineshma (Vetlugian Series), which is in a Triassic terrestrial horizon in the Vetlugian Series Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Volgosuchus.
