Cravenia was named by Hudson (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u C Vise-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Timorphyllidae by Hill (1956); to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Verbeekiellidae by Hill (1981) and Rodríguez et al. (2020).

Rodríguez et al. 2020Small solitary cornute coral, fossula on convex side, axial structure, a welldefined column with median plate produced into a cusp on cardinal side and continuous in young stages with cardinal septum, which withdraws in late stages; numerous thin septal lamellae radiate with some curvature from median plate; tabellae within column more steeply declined than those between column and the wall; septa somewhat dilated in early stages, with their bases contiguous to form, narrow peripheral stereozone; no dissepiments; septal microstructure is composed of fibronormal to water-jet mesoplasm and lamellar stereoplasm.
