It was assigned to Tyrannosauroidea by Sereno (1998); to Tyrannosaurinae by Currie (2003), Currie et al. (2003) and Holtz (2004); and to Tyrannosauridae by Bakker et al. (1988), Molnar et al. (1990), Currie (1992) and Smith et al. (2016).
