Pakicetus attocki
Taxonomy
Protocetus attocki was named by West (1980). Its type specimen is H-GSP 1694, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is H-GSP 62, which is in a Lutetian coarse channel fill conglomerate in the Kuldana Formation of Pakistan.
It was recombined as Pakicetus attocki by Gingerich and Russell (1981), Thewissen and Hussain (1998), Williams (1998), Thewissen et al. (2001), van Vliet (2004), McLeod and Barnes (2008), Gingerich (2012) and Gingerich and Cappetta (2014).
