Dinosauromorpha was named by Benton (1985). It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Nesbitt (2011).

It was assigned to Neoarchosauria by Benton (1985); and to Ornithodira by Sereno (1991), Long and Murry (1995), Novas (1996), Ezcurra (2006) and Nesbitt (2011).
