Suchomimus tenerensis

Taxonomy
Suchomimus tenerensis was named by Sereno et al. (1998). Its type specimen is MNN GDF 500, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Suchomimus type, Gadoufaoua, which is in an Aptian/Albian channel sandstone in the Elrhaz Formation of Niger.

It was recombined as Baryonyx tenerensis by Sues et al. (2002) and Candeiro et al. (2006).

Carrano et al. 2012Spinosaurid with: (1) elongate posterolateral premaxillary process that nearly excludes maxilla from external naris; (2) posterior dorsal, sacral and anterior caudal vertebral neural spines expanded anteroposteriorly and dorsoventrally; and (3) hook-shaped radial ectepicondyle (all from Sereno et al. 1998).
