Dendrostella was named by Glinski (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi D Fras Sepkoski's reference number: 422]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Stauriidae by Merriam (1974) and Hill (1981); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
