Taxonomy
Amphiura was named by Forbes (1843). It is extant. It is the type genus of Amphiuridae, Amphiuroidea.
It was assigned to Amphiurinae by Matsumoto (1915); and to Amphiuridae by Clark and Twitchell (1915), Spencer and Wright (1966), Jagt (2000), Storc (2004), Storc and Zitt (2008) and O'Hara et al. (2018).
