Stockey et al. 1997 | Free-floating aquatic stoloniferous herb, main stem extremely short, bearing rosette of one to three or four leaves, numerous simple adventitious roots, and one or two branched roots. Stolons connecting rossetes in series. Leaves sessile, entire margined, suborbicular to reniform, subcordate at base, usually 1-4 cm across at maturity, pubescent and aerenchymatous. Venation campylodromous, 9-14 primaries, occasionally steeply forked, arising from the leaf base, median vein of the same thickness as the ther primaries, with one or two irregular interprimaries, and longitudinal elongated meshes of higher order veins. |
