R. S. Lull 1924Small to middle-sized, slenderly built, bipedal dinosaurs, with cavernous vertebrae and limb bones; hind limbs, pubis, and ischium very slender, as are three fingers of hand; metatarsus elongated, bones being closely appressed, but without fusion; teeth of carnivorous type, but entirely lacking in Cretaceous forms, Struthiomimus and also probably Ornithomimus.
F. v. Huene 1948Large orbit; pointed skull; 9 elongated cervicals, 14 dorsals, 3 or more sacrals; long tail, distal vertebrae sometimes elongated; manus not reduced on ulnar side, mtc. V long; ilium with strong anterior and posterior process, acetabular opening small; pubic in earlier forms broad, plate-like, later elongated, often rod-like; trochanter quartus of femur in a high position; tibia longer than femur; calcaneum in earlier forms with spur; mt. II-IV long, without coalescence, I and V short; bird-like foot; thin walls of vertebrae and of all bones.
J. F. Bonaparte 1978Triásico sup. Jurásico-Cretácico; de hábitos bipedales; de talla chica o mediana; carnívoros y frugívoros.
