M. D. Uhen 1998 | Significantly larger than most other protocetines, with the exception of Eocetus schweinfurthi and Pappocetus lugardi; vertebrae are smaller than those of Eocetus and lack elongation of the lumbar centra; vertebrae lack the ventral keel seen in thos vertebrae assigned to Pappocetus; ribs are smaller and more gracile than those of Pappocetus. | |
M. D. Uhen 2008 | Significantly larger than most other protocetids, with the exception of Eocetus and Pappocetus. Vertebrae lack elongation of the lumbar centra of Eocetus (Uhen, 1999) and lack the ventral keel seen in vertebrae assigned to Pappocetus (Halstead and Middleton, 1974). Natchitochia has a well-developed articular surface on the transverse process of the single sacral vertebra (Uhen, 1998b). |
