Duplophyllum was named by Koker (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: P Tatr Sepkoski's reference number: 1240]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Metriophyllidae by Hill (1956); to Hapsiphyllinae by Hill (1981); to Hapsiphyllidae by Fedorowski and Bamber (2001); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
