Diplothmema gothanica

Diplothmema gothanica was named by Iannuzzi and Pfefferkorn (2002) [Adianites gothanica was synonymized with Diplothmema bodenbenderi by Cesari (1987). The two species do belong to the same genus but they should be treated as seperate species, because character states can be consistently distinguished as outlined in the text. ].

Pfefferkorn 2002D. gothanica is distinguished from D. bodenbenderi by pinnules that tend to be straighter, wedge-shaped, with terminal lobes that tend to be undivided or rarely slightly lobed. Pinnules and pinna axes are always inserted at acute angles in a three-dimensional branching pattern.
