Taxonomy
Gerbillina was named by Gray (1825) [also attributed to De Kay 1842 and Thomas 1896]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the family Gerbillidae by Geraads (1980); it was reranked as the subfamily Gerbillinae by de Bruijn et al. (1970) and Steppan et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Ierboidae by Gray (1825); to Cricetidae by de Bruijn et al. (1970); to Rodentia by Geraads (1980); and to Muridae by Steppan et al. (2004).
