Taxonomy
Adocus syntheticus was named by Cope (1869). Its type specimen is AMNH 1466, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barnsboro "greensand" (Hornerstown), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine horizon in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
