Taxonomy
Eliomys hartenbergeri was named by de Bruijn (1966). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Masia del Barbo 2A, which is in the Vallesian of horizon the Alfambra Formation Spain. It is the type species of Tempestia.
It was recombined as Tempestia hartenbergeri by van de Weerd (1976) and Daams (1989).
