Taxonomy
Diclonius calamarius was named by Cope (1876). It is not extant. Its type specimen is AMNH 5733.

It was recombined as Trachodon calamarius by Hay (1902) and Huene (1927); it was considered a nomen dubium by Lull and Wright (1942); it was considered a nomen dubium by Coombs (1988), Weishampel and Horner (1990) and Horner et al. (2004).
