Taxonomy
Laurus fremontensis was named by Berry (1930). Its type specimen is U. C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser. plesiotypes nos. 2204, 2205.

It was recombined as Laurophyllum fremontensis by MacGinitie (1941).
