Taxonomy
Meliosma truncata was named by MacGinitie (1941). Its type specimen is U.C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser. holotype no. 2296. Its type locality is Independence Hill Locality 42, which is in an Eocene floodplain shale in California.
