Taxonomy
Calyptranthes myrtifolia was named by MacGinitie (1941). Its type specimen is U.C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser. holotype no. 2314. Its type locality is Buckeye Flat Locality 3320, which is in an Eocene floodplain claystone in California.
