Cystiphyllum (Gyaloplasma) was named by Zhavoronkova (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 1240]. It is not extant. Its type is Gyaloplasma agglomerata.

It was reranked as Gyaloplasma by Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Cystiphyllum by Zhavoronkova (1976) and Hill (1981); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
