Taxonomy
Chilenochonetes was named by Isaacson and Dutro (1999) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-l C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 561,994]. It is not extant. Its type is Yagonia gibberensis.

It was corrected as Yagonia by Williams et al. (2000) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Productida by Isaacson and Dutro (1999); to Anopliinae by Williams et al. (2000); to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Caenanopliinae by Williams et al. (2007).
