Watutia novaeguineae
Taxonomy
Watutia novaeguineae was named by Flannery et al. (1989). Its type specimen is GMK52950, a maxilla (left maxillary fragment containing P3, M2-5), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Watut River, which is in a Pliocene fluvial-lacustrine siliciclastic/tuff in the Otibanda Formation of Papua New Guinea. It is the type species of Watutia.
