Calamopityaceae was named by Scott (1909) [Kenrick and Crane 1997 rank this as: Plesion "Calamopityaceae" incertae sedis.]. It is not extant. Its type is Calamopitys.

It was assigned to Calamopityales by Meyen (1984); and to Spermatophytata by Kenrick and Crane (1997).
