Peltaspermaceae was named by Harris (1937) [Kenrick and Crane 1997 rank this as: Plesion "Peltaspermaceae".]. It is not extant. Its type is Glossophyllum.

It was assigned to Peltaspermales by Meyen (1984); and to Euspermatoclides by Kenrick and Crane (1997).
