Corystospermaceae was named by Thomas (1933) [Kenrick and Crane 1997 rank this as: Plesion "Corystospermaceae" ("Umkomastiaceae").]. It is not extant.

It was replaced with Umkomasiaceae by Meyen (1984).

It was assigned to Euspermatoclides by Kenrick and Crane (1997); and to Corystospermales by Conran et al. (2009).
