Taxonomy
Micromys bendai was named by van de Weerd (1979) [Type locality, Ptolemais 1.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is IVAU, PT393, an upper M1., a tooth. Its type locality is Ptolemais 1, which is in a Ruscinian mire/swamp lignite in Greece.
