Taxonomy
Micromys bendai was named by van de Weerd (1979) [Type locality, Ptolemais 1.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is IVAU, PT393, an upper M1., a tooth. Its type locality is Ptolemais 1, which is in a Ruscinian mire/swamp lignite in Greece.

A. van de Weerd 1979Medium sized Micromys. The t7 is situated more anteriorly than other Micromys species. The t12 is small. The upper molars are broad.
A. van de Weerd 1979 (Micromys kozaniensis)medium sized Micromys, with relatively slender molars and a large t7 with a posterior position. The outline of the M1 shows a rather deep inflexion between t1 and t2.
