Taxonomy
Nelumbo aureavallis was named by Hickey (1977). It is not extant. Its type specimen is USNM 43231. Its type locality is South Central Fairy Dells (USNM 14089), which is in a Wasatchian channel siltstone/shale in the Golden Valley Formation of North Dakota.
