Taxonomy
Carpolithes lunatus was named by Hickey (1977). It is not extant. Its type specimen is USNM 167535. Its type locality is Heart River Bluffs (USNM 14051), which is in a Clarkforkian channel siltstone in the Golden Valley Formation of North Dakota.
