Lithocampe was named by Ehrenberg (1839) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi R]. It is extant. Its type is Lithocampe radicula.

It was assigned to Lithocampida by Martin (1904); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
