Synonyms
  • Populus acerifolia was named by Newberry (1868) [Lectotype: USNM 551]. It is a compression fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Populus newberryi by Knowlton (1919); it was recombined as Ampelopsis acerifolia by Brown (1962) and Liu et al. (1996); it was recombined as Archeampelos acerifolia by McIver and Basinger (1993) and Manchester (2014).
